Welcome to YardKit ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us
Lawn Profiles: We collect information you provide for each lawn, including its nickname, grass type, and zip code (to determine your climate zone).
Lawn Size: We collect your lawn's square footage, either from your manual input or as measured by the ARKit tool.
Journal Entries: We collect the text notes and photographs you upload to your Lawn Journal.
Product Locker: We collect the names, prices, and settings for the products you add to your inventory.
B. Information We Collect Automatically
Anonymous Usage Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous data about how you use the App, such as features used, time spent in-app, and crash reports. This helps us improve the App and is not linked to your personal identity.
Anonymous Authentication ID: We use Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous, random user ID to secure your access to our services. This ID is not tied to your name or email.
Subscription Status: We use Apple's StoreKit to track your subscription status (e.g., Free, Pro) to manage feature access.
C. Information Stored in Your Private iCloud
Your primary app data (lawn profiles, journal entries, product locker) is stored using SwiftData and CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal, private iCloud container provided by Apple. We do not have access to this private data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and maintain the App.
Generate your personalized lawn care plan and reminders.
Fetch accurate weather from Apple's WeatherKit using your location.
Securely identify plants and weeds (see "Third-Party Services").
Sync your data across all your personal devices using CloudKit.
Process your subscriptions and unlock Pro features.
Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve the App.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your data. We only share information with third parties as necessary to provide the App's features:
Apple: Your data is stored in your private CloudKit container. We also use Apple's WeatherKit and StoreKit. We are bound by Apple's data policies.
Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for our secure backend (Cloud Functions), anonymous authentication, and analytics.
Plant.id (via our secure server): To identify plants, you send a photo to our secure Firebase server. Our server then sends that photo (without any of your personal data) to the Plant.id API for identification.
Unsplash: To display an image of an identified plant, the App sends an anonymous search term (e.g., "Crabgrass") to the Unsplash API.
Affiliate Partners: Some product links in the App may be affiliate links. If you purchase an item through these links, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
4. Your Data Rights
Because your primary data is stored in your private iCloud, you have full control over it. You can manage or delete your app's CloudKit data at any time from your device's Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the App.
